SENIORS/LONG-TERM CARE--Seniors Care Grant Applications Open
Seniors in Nova Scotia can now apply for a $750 grant to help with healthcare and household costs.
The annual Seniors Care Grant program has helped tens of thousands of people across the province with the cost of home heating, yard work, meal preparation, grocery and prescription medication deliveries, phone service and more to help people stay in their homes longer.
“Our government created the Seniors Care Grant to help seniors afford the care and services that they need to continue to maintain their independence and live well in their communities,” said Barbara Adams, Minister of Seniors and Long-Term Care. “Through this program, our government has provided more than 173,000 grants, which has made a real difference for so many, helping them with the everyday costs of living at home. I encourage all eligible seniors to apply and take advantage of this support.”
People aged 65 and over with a household income up to $45,100 are eligible for the grant. There are several ways to apply:
- online at: https://www.novascotia.ca/apply-help-household-healthcare-and-home-heating-costs-seniors-care-grant

- print applications are available at Access Nova Scotia centres or by calling 1-800-670-4357 (toll-free).
The deadline for applications is December 1.
Seniors who are signed up for direct deposit with the Canada Revenue Agency will receive funds through direct deposit. All other eligible applicants will receive their payment by cheque.
This funding is one example of the government’s commitment to helping Nova Scotians live well in their homes and communities as they age.
